Happy accidents! The best and most humbling way of accepting one's flaws, which may well lead to progress. I think this is such an occasion. Mic wise - I'm very silly! I do own a Stealth microphone from Aston too, which is an end address, and I just got them confused. This is an Aston Spirit. It's been a while since I've got the old recording gear out... maybe I could've gone without this parti...

Hi all, This project is another one of my weekend workshop experiments where I try out a bit of marquetry for the first time. There are a lot of things I'd do differently if I had to do this again - more stable plywood, bonding each side of the board beforehand together instead of shooting them after the fact of their gluing, and using an accurate table saw to cut the mitres instead of sanding ...

Now, if you could only use those fine manners to talk Mr Knofler into showing you how to play it.
You are absolutely stunning.
Hi Daisy. I've been watching you since you began your journey. Small tip. When taping. Flip the end tape back on itself to make for easy removal . You rock. Keep doing what you're doing. It's going to be a wonderful journey. Stay well
Hey Daisy, thanks for that info. Learn something new every day. I would love to try one of your guitars unfortunately we’re a few miles apart.
Hi Daisy, I just stumbled onto your channel. I’ll be looking forward to watching some more of your videos. Very nice craftsman ship or should I say crafts woman ship anyway great work look forward to more of your videos.
I play... I don't collect or bargan or trade... so this one piece of wood isn't worth the expense, unless it makes the sound, something I can't get any other way...
Most of what I do with my hands is acceptable. Sort of. Sometimes. Some of us are just not cut out to be craftsmen. 3/4 of the RUclips channels I watch are of people who do outstanding things with their hands. That is one of the reasons I watch your channel. Another is that I like your accent. I like guitar music. I find guitar making fascinating. I wish you the greatest happiness in your life no matter what direction you decide to take your business.
Well done Daisy. Your talent is wonderful and being able to follow your work is most enlightening. Thank you for your superb videos.
Jokes aside, really impressive work.
tbh I did skim this video but where did Mark Knopfler's guitar sell for $11 million as per the title?
Thanks for making these videos! very nice to watch with a cup of coffee in hand.
I will not ask you anything. Have a great life.
It's so pretty when you turn the guitar body over and the wood shavings pour out, fall, and tumble through the air so slowly and gently
Does anyone know what the price might be for a custom, hand crafted guitar made from 5,000 year old wood? I'll bet that bit of knowledge would make my eyes water. That being said, I'd love to have one!
what a cool honor to show your work at such a prestigious event!
That's equal to $125,000 US for an Ovation. Yikes!
😂 ah, that was funny. Really beautiful, nicely shaped guitars. I prefer darker wood for meself, I'll just whip one together on my break; thanks for the idea.🥳
You are absolutely gorgeous.
This is excellent
Great description of torrified wood. I recently purchased an acoustic with a torrified spruce top. I have the identical model without torrified top. I can definitely hear the difference. Can the back and sides be torrified also?
You are extremely talented and you are creating beautiful guitars… thanks for giving us a peek into your world. What so you think about 12 fret guitars? I recently got a 12 fret guitar with a slotted headstock and love it. Do you enjoy slotted headstocks?
8:02 Fascinating story about the back and sides. Very interesting.
This Ovation 12 string went for £100 totally POTTED !!! I wouldn't pay 2 p for a Ovation who ever own it in the past.
Some people have more money than sense :) but then again look at who owned all of those zomg!
The Guitar is not important, its the Amp ! Dummies
This is asmr-ish!
Skipped cuz too much talking
Good for charity but really??? It's not like these are the Stradivarius of guitars and who will even know or care about Mark Knopfler in 100 years?
the things people with far too much money do
I was out at 400k
As guitar player and a fan of Mark Knopfler, I still cannot believe these guitars went for that much money. Totally blown away. I thought a few of those guitarist would only go for a few hundred grand if that. I wonder who is buying these???
Amazing what some folks would pay for celebrity "trash"😂 I watched it all unfold live on TV
Kudos
That lester is worth 500k without the provenance. Beautiful shape.
Imagine spending 100k+ on a £500 guitar.
They are especially happy for their commission. Fetishism. The brain and the fingers count, not really the guitar. Could have been the next model in the production line.
Wow, exciting event and amazing to be able to show your excellent work!
I'm going to be a complete suck-up here, and say that the one guitar i would like to own, would be your Moon guitar. Personally 'm not particularly interested in "famous" guitars, beyond marvelling at the price that some are willing to pay for them. The sad thing is that as ever most of the old rare guitars that go for huge amounts of money will probably go into a bank vault and never actually be played again. But for me, that beautiful acoustic would be the one for me, to play and enjoy.
Daisy . The acoustic guitar with 5000 year old sides surly must be worth 551000 pounds if that lespaul went for 550000 pounds
I never heard Ovation have a bad reputation. In fact, I've always heard them lauded as amazing guitars. I mean, case in point, Knopfler played them. Do they really have a bad reputation? Why?
The Pensa Sur that he is playing in the photo on the wall would be worth millions going off what the other guitars are selling for. The Pensa Sur is amazing to play. Being his fave guitar, I would be surprised if it was even in this collection.
The act of selling off his guitar collection is guitar sacrilege. The optimum number of guitars you should own is one more than you have 😄
Where can I hear your guitars? Any videos on YT without singing?
sap climb in full moon... doesn't go down
also £550k :ooooooooooooooooo
that's awesome. people shitcan Dire Straits for... reasons, but good for MK for doing this.
That was a bargain for that 59 Les Paul
Totally agree that the love of an instrument (or anything/anyone for that matter) is totally subjective. Even after owning, playing, making and being gifted guitars over the years, the one closest to my heart is still my first 20£ guitar that went all round the world with me
Congratulations being there to show your guitars and skills. I bought a copy of the catalogue and went up the week prior to see the guitars and went around them 3 times with lots of photos of those that caught my eye. On the day, I watched the auction for the 6 hours or so it took to deal with them all.
I picked up an Ovation for the first time at a music store once as a kid, after thinking "these things _must_ be great - after all, everyone and their grandmothers are playing them." Little did I know at the time that those artists were paid to endorse those things. But as I played it, my thoughts shifted to "this is the worst-sounding piece of crap I've ever held in my hands." And the music store employee - who was notorious for trolling people - said that they were made out of "used helicopter blades." I laughed, but afterward, I realized that that was essentially true.
